Photographic manipulation.

Pen: Before and After
Now I’ve fulfilled my past intention in purchasing a camera phone, it seems only right that I actually start about using it. Whether in the long-term I’ll be posting any good images on here, I’m not sure - especially given I’ve finally set myself up with a Flickr account.

This opening image is merely a pen, as a test of the camera more than anything else. The original image was tinted very blue and the colours far too pale and drained. It needed to be warmer and more dramatic. As such I set about using my favourite program of all time - Photoshop CS2 - to burn areas of the image, tweak the colour levels and contrasts, and have a play around with creating a vignette effect. I think the result is rather good when compared with the original.

I fully intend to blend photography and subtle digital editing in the coming weeks. That said, with no skills in the former, this could prove a total disaster.

The final pen image can be viewed here.
Or a comparison of the original and final image here.

I think that’s pretty impressive, I didn’t no such simple home editing could spruse things up so much.

    Is spruse even a word?

    No, but spruce is ¬¨_¬¨…

    Sorry.

That is a nice quality photo though. What kind of phone is it?

The lovely k800i. I needed a new phone at the time and thought it sensible to grab one with a reasonable quality camera to boot. One and a half birds, one stone.
