As with policing, welfare between 1970 and 2000 was restructured in a manner that redefined the relationship between the public and the state. No more were we the passive welfare recipients of old; the nineties were an age of individual responsibility.

Organ Donation upon Presumed Consent.

Four years ago Dr Evan Harris, Liberal Democrat MP and member of the British Medical Association, proposed that ‘presumed consent’ was one of the key NHS reforms necessary in order to lessen the chronic shortage of donor organs within the health system.
